During these uncertain times, the Port staff continues to focus on serving the public, as well as protect the health of the community and Port employees. As communities nationwide continue to feel the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to share with you the steps we’re taking to help protect the health of our community and our employees.
We’re closely monitoring local and national reports on the evolving impact of COVID-19. Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and local public health agencies, we’ve established a response plan to act quickly and effectively.
In order to safeguard against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, effective immediately, the Port of Allyn offices are temporarily closed to the public. Office personnel are still working and are available to provide assistance to the public via telephone, email, or online. Our public facilities — the Allyn Waterfront Park, the Allyn Kayak Park, Hood Canal and Allyn marinas and boat launches — will remain open. Boat launch fees are temporarily suspended until further notice to prevent the spread of the virus from people using the electronic pay stations.
The Waterfront Park restrooms will be sanitized and then closed to the public on March 19. However, portable toilets will be delivered that day for public use. The Allyn Kayak Park restroom is now closed. There are portable toilets at the Hood Canal Marina and the Boat Launch. For additional questions or information, please contact the Port office and we will be happy to help.
We have asked any employee who shows symptoms or who has come into contact with an infected individual to stay home and follow the CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus. Should an employee show symptoms or come in contact with an infected person, we will close and clean the entire office to ensure our community and employees are protected to the best extent possible.
All of us here at the Port of Allyn feel deeply for those who have been impacted by this outbreak. We value your safety and plan to take all necessary steps to ensure our facilities remain safe for everyone. The health and safety of our employees and the communities in the Port’s jurisdiction are our top priority — and we are committed to doing our part to help keep you safe.
